“WordPress is inserting ‘href.li…’ at the beginning of links, on my private blog. Why?”
If you have a private blog, WordPress.com sometimes inserts this into links automatically. It sends the visitor to the link but hides the referrer (your website). This means you can link out from your private blog but other website owners won’t know where the visitors are coming from. This helps to keep even the existence of your private blog unknown.
If you prefer, you can switch off this feature by going to Settings > Reading and checking the box next to “I would like my links to be public, without being passed through a referrer hider.” Don’t forget to Save Changes :-)

This doesnt work. There is no “I would like my links to be public, without being passed through a referrer hider.” in my blog. They must have changed something..
Hi, no the option is still there on WP Admin > Settings > Reading. Bear in mind you’ll only see the option if your Site Visibility is set to private.
Thanks James, this worked perfectly. I really don’t understand wordpress sometimes and hate when it decides to do it’s own thing. I’m glad you understand it and helped fix this issue thats plagued me quite some time :)

Hi Aaron, I’m not familiar with Tumblr unfortunately but I suspect it’s a privacy setting in there somewhere.
I have the same problem. I can’t download any cc content for sims 4 from tumblr without this href.li thing popping up. It won’t let me passed it.

My links in Tumblr do not work as well because of the href.li.
